Obama Challenges Critics of Budget Proposal

March 1, 2009

In his weekly radio address yesterday, Obama urged Congress to pass his budget proposal saying it represents the “change the American people voted for in November.”  He readily admits that his budget will face stiff opposition.  “I know these steps won’t sit well with the special interests and lobbyists who are invested in the old way of doing business,” Obama said. “And I know they’re gearing up for a fight as we speak. My message to them is this: So am I.”  Congratulations, Comrade President, you hit that nail on the head; these steps won’t sit well with anyone, especially not anyone that takes time to read your budget proposal as it stands now.

After just glancing over it, I will attack only one aspect of the “budget proposal” today.  More will come in the coming weeks, but for today we will look at just one spending proposal under Homeland Security.

From the budget proposal, “Funding of $260 million within the existing Homeland Security Grant program will fortify the Nation’s intelligence system by improving information sharing and analysis by adding thousands more State and local level intelligence analysts.”

I certainly hope no one misunderstands what I mean here, I realize that intelligence analyzing is important, more so now than at any other point in time, but “State and Local level”?

Who exactly does Comrade President believe are the terrorists we need to defend ourselves against?  Shouldn’t we be expanding our intelligence capabilities abroad?  Why at the State and local levels?

And exactly when was the last time it cost $260 million for some one at the CIA to pick up a phone and call some one at the FBI to say, “Hey, got to share this with you, we are watching a terrorist that we think you might need to know about”?  Quick answer, NEVER

The only possible explanation for this expenditure in the budget would be that Comrade President believes his opposition, conservatives, are the terrorists.  We are the ones that need to be watched.  We are the ones that present the “Big Threat” to America as he sees it.  We are the “special interests” that will oppose your newest spending bill.
