Change Is Coming, Will We Like It?

November 8, 2008

We have a new President-elect.  January 20th he will be sworn into office and we will have a new President.  A President that ran on the mantras “audacity to hope”, “change we can believe in” and “yes we can.”  For much of the past eight years, the the advocates of the far-left have proclaimed President Bush to be stupid, ignorant, facist and have gone as far as comparing him to Hitler.  They have been sure to point out how compelling Obama is and how he was an excellent speaker.  Anyone who studied basic high school history will remember that even Hitler was was a highly gifted and prolific speaker.  How much did President Bush really have in common with Hitler?

Obama promised change.  On his new website, http://change.gov , Obama’s quote from the victory speech given on election night, “What began 21 months ago in the depths of winter cannot end on this autumn night.  This victory alone is not the change we seek.  It is only the chance for us to make that change.  And that cannot happen if we go back to the way things were.  It can’t happen without you, without a new spirit of sacrifice.  So let us summon a new spirit of patriotism, of responsibility, where each of us resolves to pitch in and work harder and look after not only ourselves but each other.”

Hitler came into power in Germany promising change, too.  Like Obama, Hitler required people to accept a “new spirit of sacrifice”.  In Berlin on the first day of February, 1933 Hitler said, “Compulsory labor-service and the back-to-the-land policy are two of the basic princliples….”  He also said in the same speech, “The securing of the necessities of life will include the performance of social duties to the sick and aged.”  While it would at this point in time be difficult to say that Obama is “just like” Hitler, it is obvious that Obama’s policies are disturbingly similar.  Obama’s website says that Obama will create The American Opportunity Tax Credit.  Recipients of this tax credit will be required to conduct 100 hours of community service.  He will also set a goal that all middle and high school students do 50 hours of community service each year.  Obama’s plan, compulsory labor-service for children; Hilters plan, compulsory labor-service.

The potential problems with the Obama presidency go beyond his similiarities to Hitler.  Obama has supported labor unions in the past and will continue to support them as the President.  He proudly claims that he cosponsored and is a strong advocate for the Employee Free Choice Act.  The EFCA sounds good until one takes time to read what the act actually says and will accomplish.

HR 800 Section 2 (a) (6)

Notwithstanding any other provision of this section, whenever a petition shall have been filed by an employee or a group of employees or any individual or labor organization acting on their behalf alleging that a majority of employees in a unit appropriate for the purposes of collective bargaining wish to be represented by an individual or labor organization for such purposes, the Board shall investigate the petition.  If the Board finds that a majority of the employees in a unit appropriate for bargaining has signed valid authorizations designating the individual or labor organization specified in the petition as their bargaining representative and that no other individual or labor organization is currently certified or recognized as the exclusive representative of any of the employees in the unit, the board shall not direct an election but shall certify the individual or labor organization as the representative described in subsection (a).

This proposed law sounds good for labor unions, but what would it mean for for employees that don’t want to unionize?  While the law would provide plenty of protection for unions and do away with the need for secret ballots, it opens unwilling employees to harassment by employees wanting to unionize.  It also opens the door to the same chicanery that occurred during the elections with groups like ACORN and their fraudulent voter registration.  While the EFCA protects employees from the companies, it neither protects employees from the labor unions, nor prevents unions from turning in false check cards.  The entire labor union scheme denies the owners of businesses the rights of ownership.  If a person invests the time and money to build a business, they have the right to decide what the wages and benfits will be.  Those wages are generally based on intesity of the labor or the intelectual capabilities required to do the job with a profit margin figured in.  Anyone not desiring to work for the wages and benifits offered are free to seek employment elsewhere.  Labor unions, equipped with EFCA would make it impossible for company owners to have the right to decide what they will pay, that decision would be made by labor unions that prey on workers, taking a percentage of their labor in the form of union dues.

During Obama’s campaign several media outlets were denied access to the campaign for asking questions that the campaign didn’t want to be asked.  Other media outlets were threatened with the loss of their FCC license for airing interviews with people who had unfavorable opinions of Obama or that had information on his stance on matters regarding the Second Amendment.  This brings us back to comparisons with Hitler.  The denial of the First Amendment would be similar to the burning of books by Hitler, an attempt to control what the general population knows or can learn about his true agenda rather than the agenda he is willing to share with us.

There are aspects of his agenda that Obama worked hard to keep quiet during his campaign.  Aspects such as his assault on the Second Amendment.  Obama claims to believe in the right of the people to own guns for hunting.  The facts are somewhat different.  He has publicly supported the DC gun ban and has a history in the Illinois house of supporting and voting for every gun ban that came up for vote, except the one that would in his opinion have an adverse affect on gang members who happen to be mostly minorities.  Obama sat on the board of the Joyce Foundation, a group that has dedicated itself to doing away with the right to keep and bear arms.  The Weimar Republic passed strict gun registration laws that Hitler used to keep weapons out of the hands of his opposition.  One can only wonder if that is Obama’s intent as well.

When all is said and done, Obama comes much closer to what Hitler was than Bush ever thought of.  The question that remains is will the left, after Obama takes office and shows his true colors, be willing to apologize to Bush for the unfair accusations made against him regarding similarities to Hitler?  Will they even be honest enough to stand up to Obama and his assualts on the First and Second Amendments of the US Constitution?
